Optimizing Turnaround in Tech Services Daphne Davis, Tech Services/Database Manager, Wilkinson Public Library, Telluride, CO

The topic of discussion will include moving 1,000 new titles per month from box to shelf with less than1 FTE staff position. A key ingredient was automated processing account set-up with our primary vendor for print materials so that bibliographic records were in the database with item records attached when books arrived. Work flow issues and creating lists to 'capture' the new records and make global adjustments to generic data in the bib 949 field will be covered. The support role of our consortium (Marmot) will include the upload of barcode files into create list to facilitate global deletion of weeded records. I'll do a quick demo with our 3-M RFID scanner to cap the talk

Description - Colorado's Innovative libraries are exceptionally good at managing holds. Are we preaching to the choir? Probably. Do we have some tips that might help you manage holds even better? Quite possibly. Lynda and Carol from Fort Collins Public Library will describe what they have done to fine tune their holds processes from running paging slips to creating a "stuck and stale" report. Debra Van Tassel will show how to setup and use the Patron Alias field and custom holds slips. Sarah Vaughn from University of Northern Colorado will discuss recalls and holds in an academic environment.
